Mistress Dyvia Presents:
The Price of Villainy:
Cost of a Hero 5

By: Mistress Dyvia

Lady Mindstorm is dead.  I dropped the gun that was so tightly held in my hand, afraid a second shot could hurt Chrissy.

Moments ago, I watched as a woman with powers that only affected the mind, almost physically defeat my daughter who had physical powers that potentially would make her one of the strongest and fastest people in the world, but Lady Mindstorm's power cut off her source of power… mine as well… and I pulled a gun from one of my attackers…

It was surreal.  I never thought I would use deadly force, I would rather die than take a life intentionally, but my daughter’s life was at stake.  I would have been willing to die before killing, but I couldn’t say the same for my daughter.

Taking count of my situation.  My breath was subdued, I wasn’t hyperventilating, I was holding my breath.  Was this a trick of my mind? This woman who had caused so much misery in my life was on the ground, a sizable amount of gore on the wall and the floor around her head.  But I was trying to put that out of my head.

Heroes never kill.

I killed.

Lady Mindstorm was dead.

My daughter was safe.

...And I was flooded with relief. I looked at her, she seemed oblivious to Lady Mindstorm at her feet.  She was touching her body, as if looking for injuries.  She looked at the back of her hands and arms, turned around and looked at her butt.  She was fine.

I finally pushed myself to my feet, feeling the effects of Lady Mindstorm’s control evaporating.  My self-confidence was returning.  I imagine hers was as well. I checked myself for injuries, though I was convinced that I would be fine in a few minutes regardless.

I slowly walked over to Chrissy and she took a step back, “It's alright Chrissy, it's me, Mom”  and I pulled her into a hug, though she didn’t hug me back.  I broke it off and looked her up and down.  “Hunny, are you alright?”

“Yeah… Mom…” She said almost sarcastically then laughed at that,  “I am more than alright, I am fucking amazing.”

“Chrissy?” I asked with confusion as I wasn’t used to her using language like that, especially given what we just went through.

“I very much knew I was going to die today, I needed an upgrade, but getting you to break your vow of not killing...I mean my old body needed to die for me to take a seed…

“Chrissy, what is wrong with you? What do you mean ‘seed?’”

She laughed, “I prefer Chrystal…  Well I guess you named her after me.  So that was nice.  makes it easier to get used to my new identity.”

“Chrystal?” was all I could say in confusion…

She laughed again, “Are you in denial? Or just that stupid.”  She paused evaluating the look on my face, “My original power was to create seeds, children that were born after I fucked their parents were seeds, during the sex, I could crontrol the parental traits they had, and upon my death, I would take over the one physically closest to me.  The first body I woke up in, had the power to give people powers by having sex with them.  So for a while I thought powers were related to sex… and then I met stoic, and altered a person to be the perfect woman for him, and she bore him a daughter, that sadly didn’t take his powers at all, but did have her mother’s telepathic gifts… and when I died and took Krystal… I became Lady Mindstorm…  But she’s dead…  I think I might be Lady Tempest.  I like that.”

“No, Crystal, that’s not funny.”

“Don’t worry, Mom,” that touch of sarcasm… again, when calling me mom, and a note of amusement in her voice, “with my telepathy, you won’t even notice the difference, I’ll get you to kill cities, and you’ll be happy that we did something as a mother and daughter day.”  A wide smile formed on her mouth, “So… tell me, ‘anything for you hunny.’”

I was glaring at her, “Let go of my daughter.”

She looked shocked, “Really, that sucks.  My control doesn’t work on you.  It didn’t work on Stoic, I wonder if it's because we have genetic material in common.”

“Chrissy…” My voice begged for her to stop playing this game.  I needed this to be a game.

She smiled in a sinister way that I had never seen my daughter smile before, “Get on your knees.”

I didn’t. And a look of anger and rage slowly transformed her face into something wholly unrecognizable.  And without a word I was punched through a wall.  It didn’t hurt, and I honestly didn’t think she could have even moved me with the power behind that blow if I had been expecting it.  But I was on the ground covered in rubble.  I pressed my hands down, and simply pushed up and the large concrete slabs that had fallen on me were gone, I was on my feet, and Chrissy was gone.

I flew straight up, smashing through four stories of her secret base. To my left was a city near the horizon, I hadn’t even figured out which city it was when an explosion rocked a skyscraper.  I rushed for it as the top half started tilting.  I knew just pressing myself up against it would create a breakpoint and I would cause more damage to those inside as well as those below…  So I used a similar attack that I had used to stop an asteroid from hitting the Earth a few years ago…

I started using my speed, I knew I could do this…  And made it so that for all intents, even though I was lightly hitting it thousands of times per second, the physics of the situation would seem as though hundreds of me were slowly pushing it back up right.  Once up right,I was able to use some debris to stabilize the skyscraper temporarily.  And it would be temporary, I suspected this building would have to be demolished properly, but I did not have the knowledge to do that.  But I could help get it evacuated, and I did.

Chrissy was gone.  And she had probably done this to distract me so that the others could get away.  I waited, I knew others would be coming…  and as I sat there, I wondered if my daughter was truly dead. Was she trapped watching everything happen as an unwelcome passenger? if she died, was it instant?  Or did her mind give her a moment?

A moment.  I remembered that conversation from days ago, when she asked what happened during death?  Did she see those hallucinations?  Did she go somewhere better?  Did her brain just cease to be her and just had Mindstorm’s mind and personality overwrite her mind like a computer would?

I looked up, Kunkus from the Legacy was near me.  “You’re alive?”

I was astonished, Lady Mindstorm told me that she had controlled me, had been controlling me for years…  I had killed Stoic, my mentor, and just hours ago, I had killed the Legacy.  I fought my own unaware self whose fists were supposedly covered in their blood.

He nodded, “We all are.  Some of us are a little worse for wear.”

“How? Lady Mindstorm said-”

A voice echoed in my head, “She may be a strong telepath, but she isn’t the strongest.  I made her… toy…  think it witnessed the deaths that it had not.”  I recognized Whisp.

“I’m sorry,  I had no idea, but I’m glad you are alive.”

Whisp’s ethereal voice echoed in my head once again, “As am I, I am also glad to see her tendrils are no longer in your mind.  You suddenly seem impervious.”

I closed my eyes and tried to will the last couple of hours worth of memories onto her…  and then she passed it along to the others, with a summons for those who were both able and capable of fighting…

The others finally arrived, and it was better, I did not want to dwell on these thoughts… I spoke to a few other heroes, and a government liaison, I filled them in on everything that had happened.  I was actually expecting a bit more shunning for using a gun, but most had seemed more quiet and understanding than anything else. Those who were known by Chrissy for their secret identities were relocated.  Chrissy knew too much.  Krystal probably knew everything that my daughter did… Well, potentially knew...

It wasn’t until I stepped in my home, that I finally rolled into a ball on the couch and cried.  I cried for hours.  That bitch killed my daughter and was wearing her like a skin suit. My pain, anger and grief caused my whole body to tremble as I didn’t even know where to begin with that.

I don’t think that I slept, but the sunlight peeked through the window as the sunrise was finally breaking the long night.  I stood up, emotionally drained.  I drank a glass of water.  I walked down the hall towards my room in a daze and I reached for the door, I stopped and then turned to Chrissy’s room.

Krysal had been here.  Every picture of her had her face removed.  Her clothes and makeup were gone…  And things that she had cherished were crushed,  and a single note sat in the middle of the floor.

‘Hi Mommy,

I just wanted to pick up some clothes and other essentials, I doubt Chrissy would mind.  Oh I destroyed all your pics of her and the ones on your computer too!  Can’t have any reminders of the good Chrissy.  Can’t wait to start killing people with these wonderful new powers, but I might stop if you agree to be my slave, we’ll see.

Love, Your daughter,

Krystal
Aka Lady Tempest
XOXOXO’

I didn’t think I had tears left., but they came again as I read that.  She destroyed any images I had of the beautiful and happy girl that was my daughter.  My phone had been destroyed in the fight, so I didn’t even have that.  I took the note and flew to a government facility so that I could share this note with others.

I got a few sympathy responses, but I knew between the other hero teams, and the government’s task force for dealing with us, everybody was going on high alert.

I did not go home.  I stayed in a room they were happy to provide for me until we heard news of Lady Mindstorm…  Lady Tempest’s threat being realized.

I only had about a week to wait.

I was meditating on my bed when there was a knock on the door.  Commander O’Brien stepped inside and said that my daughter had arrived in Miami and was turning it into a war zone.  She had a few followers, but they looked like her old subordinates.  So at least nothing new, and I had no idea if she created a new teleporter, though I was under the impression that like me, that one was probably unique.

I suited up, called for backup.  I was unsure if I could stop them all with no casualties.  But with some other support teams, maybe we could minimize the damage to the city and its people.  The hard hitters would focus on her minions, the others would focus on evacuation and damage control, while I would capture Lady Tempest.

Flying supersonic speeds were momentarily freeing.  I wasn’t thinking about what I was doing, just the place, and feeling the wind against my face.  It took a few minutes and then I saw the smoke and clouds of destruction from buildings being destroyed on the horizon.

I stopped over the city.  And looked, a fireball whizzed by my head, and I saw a fire user. Full speed and stopped in front of them, they took a step back, and flicked my finger against their forehead launching them fifty feet away, the concussion would likely keep them out of the battle.

“Heya, Mommy.” I heard from behind me.

She was wearing some pink uniform with a red cape.  She was going out of her way to make herself look exceptionally cute for all the horrific things she was doing.  I snarled a “You do not get to call me that, ‘Lady Tempest.’” The last two words were an indictment that she would not receive any exception to the fact that her body was my daughters.

“Very well, MarySue.” she smiled, “I’m confident that I can kill you today… but do I really have to?”

“You can try, but your powers aren’t as developed as mine, care to surrender now?  Or should everyone know you still can’t beat me?” I wasn’t 100% sure that was a boast, but if she had Chrissy’’s memories, she’d know her powers weren’t as developed as mine, and that in itself would eat away at her confidence in her fighting ability against me.

“Does the world know that you killed Stoic?” she teased knowing that there were onlookers recording with their phones.

“I was a weapon used by you against my knowledge or will.  You can’t control me anymore.”

She laughed. “I don’t need to use mind control to bend you to my will.”  And in a moment of speed she grabbed a woman and ripped her in half.  She looked at the woman’s husband, “You can have half, which half do you want?”  He just looked in horror, “No need to say, men only give a shit about pussy.”  and dropped the woman’s lower half at his feet before launching the upper half into the sky.

She charged me, punching me through a building.  Well, half-though a building.  I stopped halfway inside a bank vault. I charged back out.  “Krystal...”  a seething rage of what this woman was doing to my daughter’s memory in public.  My daughter would be remembered as a villain, no one would understand why I was fighting her or why she was being so evil.

I stood up only to see Lady Tempest pick up the vault door and wind up for a strike.  I let out a gasp and saw the air from my breath, it was cold.  And the vault door was ripped from her hands.  It was One-Liner, a member of the Legacy who turned ambient heat into raw physical strength.  He swung it back at her. And she launched out of the vault, as he screamed “Home run!” as if she were the ball of a winning grand slam at a baseball game.  He held out his hand to me, “You okay?”

“No.  Be Careful, that won’t slow her down for long.”

He scowled, “How can you be sure?”

“She has my powers, a little less developed, but more than enough to stop most heroes and villains that I am aware of.”

Lady Tempest appeared, “Don’t forget what I have that you do not…?”  A wide smile curled her lips as One-Liner looked at me in horror…

“You tricked me into hitting the real MarySue!” and he threw a punch at me.  I parried it and dropped him to his back.

“It's me.  She’s using her telepathy on you.”

“Liar!”  he screamed.  I made a move to strike out against Lady Tempest but, One-Liner got in my way.

“I won’t let you hurt her!” he warned me.

“Thank you, One-Liner.”  she said.

He looked back at her, “No Problem.  I always got your back.” and just as he was about to say something else, he stood straight up , his arms fell to his side, like he was in a trance, and then she ripped a piece of his stomach out.

I screamed, “Zipper!”  and the good little Speed Demon appeared at my side, “Get him to a hospital and keep your thoughts going too fast for her to piggy back or distort your perceptions.”

“K” echoed around the room, but they were both gone.

“Well Mommy, you’re no fun at all.”

“Don’t call me that!” I sped at her and punched her in the side of the head and she tumbled out of the building.

I reached the street a second later.  She was pushing herself up, struggling to her feet.  I pushed off to her, and she looked at me, a determined look on her face, resigned to death.  I didn’t expect that from her…  but then she said, “Do it.”

And I stopped.  “What?”

“Mom, you can’t hesitate, she’s waking up again. When she’s awake, I can’t stop her.  You have to-”  She punched me in the side of my head and I saw stars…  “You stupid cunt.  You fell for the oldest trick in the book.  She charged me.  I put up my hands still disoriented.  I wasn’t sure if I could stop this attack…  and a wave of pure concussive energy shoved her to the left.

Kunkus stood over me pulling me to my feet.  “Get out of here, her telepathy can turn you against me.”

“He pointed to a chip on the side of his head, “Zipper saw what happened with your and One-liner, and went back to his lab after dropping him off at the hospital and made these to keep us clear-headed.”

Okay, that was like a minute ago.  I guess Zipper was even faster than I thought.  “I still don’t think you guys should be involved.”

“Oh, I can take care of that,” Lady Tempest said, walking back in view of us.  Tapping her head, “When everyone in within a mile of me suddenly has an overwhelming need to commit suicide.  All you heroes suddenly need to stop fighting me.”

“Geronimo!” I heard as a person jumped off a bridge with a huge smile.  I dashed for him.  And caught him.  “I want to do that again.”  I looked around and it was happening all around us, and the heroes were using their powers to stop the attempted suicides.

The chaos lasted only a minute, and then people’s minds started to return to their senses.  I looked at Kunkus, “She got away.”

Shadow-Op dropped down in his exo-suit beside us “No.” He pointed up.

She was hovering over the city.  Kunkus couldn’t see her; she was nearly five miles straight up, but I could, and clearly Shadow-Ops equipment could.

But Kunkus asked, “What is she doing?”

Shadow-Op, “Debating whether to run, or try to take us all down, her minions were taken down by the heroes, it would be one against everyone.”

I shook my head, “No… She’s going to accelerate down with enough speed and force to shatter the bedrock beneath the city.  It would be like a massive Earthquake, but the city would not be able to recover or expand vertically without its foundation.”

“Can you stop her?”

“Not straight on…  But I’m confident I can if you can keep the people safe.”

And with that they scattered.  She continued to look at me.  “You know me well, Mommy.” Trying to entice me.  I wasn’t falling for it.  I waited.

She scowled, and then darted down fast…  I shot myself like a bullet to the far end of the city and watched as she dropped like a nuclear bomb.  I knew I could not intercept her straight on, she could dodge at the last second, but I was confident that I could hit her from the side and launch her in another direction.  And at a faster speed than I think she thought I could move, I raced in and even her reaction moving in slow motions showed the difference in speed between us, and I hit her out of the city.

She skipped across the Florida Earth like a stone across water ten times before coming to a stop in a corn field. She stood up, and I was standing over her.

“You killed my daughter.”

She laughed, “I killed a lot of daughters, and sons, as well as mothers and fathers…  In fact, didn’t I kill your parents? and their children…?” the tone of her voice was amused. “I’ve taken everything away from you.”  she looked down and seemed surprised that her mouth was bloody.

I stared at her down, “You saw the difference in our speed, I’m stronger, I’m faster.  Maybe in a couple years you could have had the speed and power you needed to defeat or kill me.  But not today.  And I’m confident I know the one way to stop you forever.  And you have neither the speed nor the strength to stop me.

And for the first time since she took my daughter’s form, I saw the opening.  Fear.  The true antithesis of confidence.  And I pressed it.  I dropped below her and with a speed and strength she couldn’t hope to match, I punched her straight up….  She was far past the moon’s orbit when she was able to stabilize her tossing and turning.  And then there I was with another punch,  and then sped up to grab her and pulled us both at full speed.   I knew the sun was bright, but it was so bright, I knew it was damaging my eyes from the intensity of the brightness, even if I wasn’t directly looking at it…  But she needed to die.

Kill.

Being a Hero was no longer important, saving lives was, and this sociopath of a woman, with unmatched potential couldn’t be allowed near people.

I felt her struggling to free herself, but I had her.  She glared at me with such hatred, and then that melted to fear…  but I still pushed towards the heat.  My vision became blurry and then black…

I felt the pain from the heat. I wasn’t even sure if I lost my vision because of the heat destroying my eyes, or if it was the intense light making my retinas unable to perceive it… regardless, I was blind.  She stopped struggling in my arms.  I was stronger, did she die?

I intensified my speed, feeling every nerve in my body on fire.  Throwing this bitch into the sun would kill her…  Hell, it was killing me.  Everything was so dark, and the pain of the heat was starting to subside…

And then I felt hand on me…  “Don’t worry, I have you.”

I gasped, “Stoic?”

“Yeah…  I’m here.” he said.  “And I’m not the only one.”

Another hand grabbed me, and my vision was starting to work again, and I saw Stoic, but then the other hand… Chrissy?  You’re not possessed anymore.”

She smiled, “No mom, Thanks to you, I’m fine.”

“I love you so much!”  And I squeezed her… and then Stoic.  “I can’t believe you are both fine.”  My daughter was fine, my mentor was alive and fine… and for the first time in what felt like such a long time, I was relieved… I was Happy.

Adrian Kettle.

Adrian stared at the screen of his parent’s television.  The fight in Miami was insane.  Why the hell was MarySue fighting Willow?  Weren’t they mother and daughter?  Willow seemed so cool, was she being blackmailed or mind-controlled?  And then there was some report that they just launched into space.  Weird.

He got up to grab a drink.  As he was sipping it, a strange sharp pain dug into his head.  And everything went black.

A moment later his eyes fluttered open, his Mom was sitting over him.  “Hun, what happened, are you hurt?”

“Alyson Kettle?” he asked.

“Hun?”

“Oh fuck.  I’m Adrian?”

“Hun, What are you talking about?”

“Fucking hell.”

“Hun, Watch your language.” his mother told him.

“Shut up. His laser finger is absolutely useless to my plans right now,  I only let you live because he was a seed.”

“What?”  She asked in confusion.

“Remember when I kidnapped you and had you fuck… well I guess this kid’s Dad?  It was a backup plan in case I got killed, he must have been the closest person to the sun…  fuck did she actually kill herself to kill me?”

She started to go pale, ”what did you say?”

Instead of paying attention to her, “absolutely useless.”  and then he pointed to his mother and a beam of light shot straight into her head and she fell over, dead.

“Well, if at first you don’t succeed…”  and he pointed his finger to his own eye and…

Amanda Love, AKA Gravia.

Amanda’s eyes snapped open.  Oh Good, she knew this body, and this seed was powerful..  And she would… shit…  she wondered what the sounds were….  Why was it so hard to.. Uhh…  think?”  she … ahh… needed…

“Would you like some Applesauce, Amanda?” the nurse asked her.

Amanda stared at her for about ten seconds before the slightest nod escaped her, and the nurse helped feed her the treat.

A doctor and guard rushed in.  “Step aside, her brain waves spiked for a few seconds, we need to increase the medication.”  She took the applesauce to the side and let the others do what they had to.

“Do you think she will ever be off the meds?”

“No.” the doctor said.  “She is a sociopath, and has no remorse for hurting anyone.  Has power over gravity that will likely grow with age and can potentially destroy cities right now.  She can heal, there was an attempt to lobotomize her, but her brain regrew before they could even finish the surgery… Inhibitor units strangely don’t affect her gravity powers… I don’t see any way to ever let her off the sedation.”

“That’s too bad…”  The nurse started, “She seems like such a nice girl like this.

Epilogue.

MarySue is dead.  She will be mourned.

Willow is dead, the heroes who fought with them made sure the world knew what Lady Mindstorm had done. And the world would mourn Willow as well.

No one in the world was aware that Lady Mindstorm survived the fight against Marysue.  Trapped in the drugged psyche of Amanda Love, even though she was consciously unaware of her own survival... Though no one ever found out about this, as the first body she awoke in after her Willow body was destroyed by the sun, was a teenage boy, she killed his mother and then ‘himself’ awakening in the body of the villain known as Gravia.  Gravia was sedated, and spent the rest of her life so sedated that she would never hold a full thought together again.  She would live a long life, so long that she actually outlived all of the other seeds.  And was barely aware when her final moments were coming to her.  Such was the price of Villainy,.

The End.

And that really is the end of The Adventures of MarySue.  I knew it was dark from the start, and I knew the end would not be happy. I'm sure you must have too, but I’d still really like to know your thoughts…  Also, the first story in the series that did not do a major time skip, lol.

Kisses for now, look forward to hearing from you.
